Five-time Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo would be hoping to end his mini-league drought when he comes up against leaders Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. The Portuguese attacker has not been able to replicate his red-hot Champions League form in the league since returning to Manchester United this summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo is at the start of his second spell at the Theatre of Dreams after he returned in the summer. Manchester United sealed his return from Juventus and he was given a two-year deal with the option of a third year. Since his return, the 36-year-old has scored ten goals in all competitions for the Red Devils. However, only four of those goals are in the Champions League.
Ronaldo has six goals in five Champions League games, while he has four goals in nine league outings.
Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has not scored in each of his last two games. He was largely kept quiet during the Manchester Derby earlier this month as Manchester United lost 2-0 at home to goals from Eric Bailly (own goal) and in-form Bernardo Silva. Ronaldo could only provide an assist for the lone United goal scored by half-time substitute Donny Van De Beek as Watford recorded a memorable 4-1 home win over the Red Devils. The hosts got their goals through Norwegian international Josh King, Senegalese attacker IsmailaSarr, Brazilian substitute Joao Pedro and Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis.
Ronaldo and Manchester United will come up against a Chelsea defencewith a defensive record of four goals conceded in 12 league games. They have the best defensive record in the Premier League and that has propelled them to the top of the table. The Blues have a three-point lead over holders Manchester City in second place, while Liverpool are two points away from the champions in third place.
