Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will only sign a new contract at the club on one condition according to the report from the stables of French publication L’Equipe. Pogba has less than a year left on his Red Devils contract and he’s on course to become a free agent when his contract expires next summer.
French World Cup winner Pogba will be available to negotiate a free transfer move to foreign clubs as from the start of the next year when he would have six months left on his current Manchester United contract.Pogba will definitely become a free agent next summer if he does not sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
The aforementioned media portal stated that Pogba would sign a new Manchester United deal on the condition that he’s the highest earner in the Premier League ahead of Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and club teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pogba earned a lot of plaudits with his performances for France at the Euro 2020 tournament in the summer, but he could not prevent his team from losing to Switzerland on penalties in the round of 16 after the two teams shared six goals at the end of extra time. He was also an important player for the French senior national team in the recent UEFA Nations League title win thanks to the 2-1 comeback win over Spain in the final.
Manchester United midfielder Pogba has not always replicated his France form for the Red Devils. He started this season with a bang at Manchester United as he provided four assists during the opening game of the season. Pogba was one of the best players as Manchester United began the new Premier League campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win over Leeds United at home.
However, things have gone downhill for Pogba at Manchester United in recent weeks. He was sent off as a second half substitute against Liverpool last month in a Premier League clash that ended in a 5-0 home defeat for his team. The Frenchman won’t play again this year after he sustained a long-term thigh problem while he was in training with his country this week.
